Waiting for the Catch - Fishhoek Beach, Cape Town. The fishermen of the Cape Province, launch their boats off the beach, pushing them down and into the waves. This fisherman in his green sou'wester looked amazing against the sands.

Lion - I love Lions. This particular boy was very lazily lying in the sun. Seeming to ignore us. My husband had not seen him in the shade and slightly stood up to see another lion. The lion was instantly alert and the guide whispered, sit. Phew

Boomerang - Sailing the Hawkesbury at dusk. This painting is also an imagination of what could have happened in the past. Boomerang is owned by the Sydney Heritage Fleet. Built in 1903 in Lavender Bay, NSW, a timber planked a wooden auxilliary schooner. I never saw her there, but would like to imagine her there. Coming out from behind a peninsular of land

The difference between Men and Boys is the size of their Toys. I saw the yacht scene in the bay at New Caledonia and the painting came to a dream of boys and their toys and how they grow in size.

George Street - Reflections Apple Offices. Driving up Bridge Street to George Street along time ago, I glimpsed this scene. Managed to capture an essence through the car windscreen. That is what is so gorgeous about windows and buildings. Capture old and new in an seemingly abstract way.

Eggbert - Came to us after a storm in Cape Town. He was a tiny chick, he adopted us and we took on the role of parents and taught him to fly by running down the lawn. He swam in the pool and jumped on the trampoline with the children. Gave great hugs and kisses. Visited the neighbours for daily chats and to watch them on their exercise bikes. He lived with three German Shepherds a cat, a chicken, two miniature ducks and children, 25 budgies, two rabbits and helped foster 6 more Egyptian Geese. Egbert was the major guard dog to the children opening his wings and running off other childen who he thought were too boisterous. Watercolour on Pastel Paper

Precious Dragon. In 1997 five Brits, who had built the junk in the traditional Chinese way sailed her to London and after six month sailed under the Tower Bridge, to mark the handover from Britain to China of Hong Kong. Sadly on its way back Precious Dragon sank off Sri Lanka. I has lucky enough to see her off Lama Island and to create this painting -

James Craig - Part of the Sydney Heritage Fleet Tall ships. She is a restored 19th century barque. Being a member of the Australian Society of Marine Artists, 10 of us had 3 months artists in residence with the Fleet in Sydney, roaming the Fleet yard, climbing all over the old ferries, tugs, tall ships and sailing boats. At the end we were part of an exhibition held on the James Craig in Darling Harbour -

Kanangra Ferry built in Woolwich, launched in 1912 - Another the Sydney Heritage Fleet restoration. Kanangra used to collect passengers from Cremorne before the bridge was built and bring them across the harbour to Circular Quay. She went out out of service in 1985. Pinky a cobbler who plied his trade on The Peak, on Hong Kong Island. When I asked him if I could paint his portrait he said 'No time to stop'. A man standing next to me translated, explaining that I did not want him to stop. His replay was 'He would be honoured'. Consequently, when the leaving expats saw the painting, I had to paint three more.

Beckett and the Hat. We adopted Beckett when we moved to Hong Kong. He was the ruler of the roost, Dogs avoiding eye contact at all costs. Unfortunately, he thought he could take on the wild dogs that roamed in Chung Hom Kok. He was a real character.
